16 October | AFGW Statement of Support re Women’s Electoral Lobby Proposal re long-time secure funding for women’s refuges. Read the Statement of Support +++ In view of our relatively small membership it has been agreed that Education should be our main focus of advocacy and with this in mind in the field of domestic violence we would like there to be on-going support including for children’s education and continuation or re-entry to education for women who have been victims of domestic violence. However the project we are being asked to support is convincing and feasible in the way it addresses a crucial necessity if women and their children are to leave abusive situations in the safety that will allow them to build a life –for the children to get an education free of the psychological stress of violence and the women to gain financial independence by either using the education they already have or by re-training to enter the workforce. | |
